Lady Muck Ceramics

Lovingly handcrafted ceramics help create a calm, ambient, and elegantly styled space. Handmade on the Sunshine Coast, Lady Muck Ceramics are crafted in a small artisan studio using the finest clays and glazes. I use various pottery methods, including handbuilding, slab and coil construction, slip casting, sculpture, and wheel throwing, depending on creative inspiration.

Good things come to those who wait.

Lady Muck Ceramics are made to order, tailored to your unique aesthetic and design ideas. The process is artistic and unpredictable, so we don’t make promises we can’t keep. Our work isn’t like mass-produced ceramics found in homeware stores; we’re not fast, but we are dedicated to creating beautiful, heartfelt pieces.

We don't encourage impulse buying because customer satisfaction is key. The world is full of stuff, and creating your space should be enjoyable. Please be patient, flexible, work within your budget, and allow 4-6 weeks for your order.

About my ceramics

I create ceramics using slab and coil technique, forms, slip casting and a little bit of wheel throwing.

I was introduced to ceramics at art college and was immediately hooked but it is such a messy business! Rarely do I escape a studio session without mud on my face, in my hair, on my clothes, especially if I am wheel throwing! So instead of trying to stay clean, I surrendered to my work style and realised that I produce my best work when I don’t worry too much about being tidy while I am creating. So, leaning into it, I have named my ceramics studio Lady Muck Ceramics because when I make ceramics, I am happy as a pig in mud!

I enjoy sculpture. My Lotus Flower was awarded the TAFE General Managers 3D acquisitive prize for ceramics.

My intention with Lady Muck Ceramics is to hand make a small but beautiful range of ceramics with love and mindfulness. Working with clay is very tactile, calming and emotionally healing. Well mostly. Sometimes it’s frustrating. But when frustration happens, it’s just a sign that I need to centre myself emotionally.

My art practice is underpinned by an appreciation, and respect for nature. I create art that conveys a deepening understanding of the preciousness of life and the need to preserve it. Our native flora, fauna, and culture are life sustaining and enriching. The more disconnected humans are from these things, the more we disrespect each other and our environment, the more precarious our life. I make work inspired by natural colours, textures, shapes and forms.

I lean toward making decorative pieces such as vases, fruit bowls, handmade tiles and luminaries. Functional ceramics is competitive and I don’t enjoy making them as much. It’s hard to compete with cheap overseas imports sold through major retailers. Ceramics are to be appreciated aesthetically but ceramics can be fun too! I also like to make Pop Art style ceramics.
