Fine Art Wall Prints

The Shadows in the Ashes series are from original mono prints of banksia leaves, seed pods or blooms as I imagined them to appear after surviving a bushfire. It's part of my exploration of the effects of climate change on our dry, bushfire prone, Australian landscape. They're also a comment on survival and resilience.

Having lived in bushfire, flood, drought, and cyclone prone regions, and being an avid watcher of news and current affairs, I'm quite conscious of the increasing risk to human life (and animal) posed by climate change.

I think about it often, and art is a great way to process. The monochromatic colour palette in these works is suggestive of ashes, coals and the ash and charcoal that occurs to our native flora following a bushfire. The use of repeated patterns points to the fact that these devastating events are commonplace, occurring repeatedly.

These prints are available in both cool and warm tones. I've found that in my old Queenslander, for example, that the warm whites work better. It depends on the room colour and amount of natural light as to which ones work best.

They'll be available in A4 (21cm x 29.7cm), A3 29.7cm x 42cm), A2( 42xm x 59.4cm) and A1 (59.4cm x 84.1cm). A2 suits these works or a set of A3s.
